Android Calendar is the built-in system calendar on Android phones that
is used to sync users' schedules when using multiple accounts (Google,
for instance). It stores calendars, events, reminders, attendees, and
creates instances of repeating events - useful for helping reconstruct
timelines and account use.
This artifact allows the user to identify the device's calendar accounts
and settings, as well as events. Individual instances of recurring
meetings can be scheduled using the "instances" feature.
Android Calendar artifacts can be found at the following location:
/data/data/com.android.providers.calendar/databases/calendar.db
According to the provider source of Android, the database name is calendar.db, and device paths are according to the standard app-private data layout under com.android.providers.calendar.
This section will discuss how to use ArtiFast to extract Android
Calendar artifacts from Android devices’’ files and what kind of digital
forensics insights we can gain from the artifacts.
After you have created your case and added evidence for the
investigation, at the Artifact Selection phase, you can select Android
Calendar artifact parsers:
Once ArtiFast parsers plugins complete processing the artifact for analysis, it can be reviewed via “Artifact View” or “Timeline View,” with indexing, filtering, and searching capabilities. Below is a detailed description of Android Calendar artifacts in ArtiFast.
